Move it like Jagger
ARTIST: MAROON 5
TRACK: MOVES LIKE JAGGER
So, as much as I’m a Maroon 5 / Adam Levine Fan, something about Moves Like Jagger annoyed me. I don’t know if it was the whistle-like hook or the ridiculous lyrics in the chorus, but everytime I caught this track, it was irritating.
Until I happened to put the track on my mp3 and go running.
There’s something about Moves Like Jagger that works perfectly for a workout. Great pace, tight verses and chorus. Most of all, each verse adds another instrumental layer that pushes your workout intensity. And then, Christina’s pipes inject another dose of energy in the second half of the song.
Give it a workout spin, you’ll move like Jagger.

If We Ever WORKOUT AGAIN
ARTIST: TIMBALAND FEAT. KATY PERRY
TRACK: IF WE EVER MEET AGAIN
Timbaland’s beats are always a bit left-of-center but overwhelmingly compelling and accessible. His latest album, Shock Value II, is full of great collaborations, including If We Ever Meet Again, featuring Katy Perry. This track is now on heavy rotation in my gym mix. As usual, I love Timba’s sound but this track really gets me going every time I hear its big hook and Katy’s strong vocals. Don’t mind the softer verses, as the contrast with the chorus will push you to the next level.

Don’t STOP ME – You Haven’t Heard This One Before
ARTIST: MARK RONSON FEATURING DANIEL MERRIWEATHER
TRACK: STOP ME (Kissy Sell Out Remix)
I’ve always loved everything from Mark Ronson’s knockout album Version, and “Stop Me” – a crazy mash-up / cover of tracks from The Smiths (“Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One”) and The Surpremes (“You Keep Me Hangin’ On”) – is no exception. But, then this Kissy Sell Out Remix went and remade the song for me all over again! The track gets deconstructed and then refined in a much brighter, snappier way, with bigger beats and a killer meandering bassline. We love it when a remix like this sharpens all of the sonic elements of a track vs. just adding a faster beat. Check it.
